Bead Challenge

In conjunction with next month's program, SDBS is participating in a Bead Inspiration Challenge. Kits were sold at the April meeting consisting of an assortment of African beads from Kenya. Finished pieces must include only materials available to our sister beaders in Kenya: the enclosed beads, fiber, seed beads, wire and stringing material. All profits from sale of the kits will go to the Salvation Army Worth Program, Elgon District, Kenya. All completed necklaces will be displayed at our Bead Bazaar in August and pictures of all entries will be sent to the beaders in Kenya to lend inspiration in their beading. These women provide food and educations to their families through their beading micro-business.

SDBS News

We will be having a juried trunk show at the Mingei Museum Store in May in conjunction with the opening of the display from the Bead Museum, May 24th - 26th.

Coming in 2013 our first ever July meeting! This will be a "hands on" meeting to decorate Christmas balls. Hospitality for this meeting will be potluck, so bring your creativity and some yummy snacks!

Lots of new books donated to our library. Be sure to check the library cart. If you have books checked out, please bring them to the next meeting so other members can enjoy them.

Do you look forward to the snacks at our meetings? Volunteer for Hospitality!

We meet early on Saturday morning and good snacks add to the pleasure of socializing with our beading buddies and listening to stimulating programs. Each month two volunteer members are the hosts or hostesses for the hospitality table. All expenses are reimbursed. If you enjoy the snacks, please volunteer your culinary talents and/or your discriminating purchasing power. All members are expected to participate. If you have not yet taken a turn, please sign up at the next meeting.

Bead Artist of the Month

Each month we feature one of our talented members as Bead Artist of the Month. Every creative man and woman in the Bead Society has a story. If you have not yet shared yours, please volunteer. You don't need a slide show, just stand up and brag! Bring your creations and share your artistic journey.

You may bring a 3x5 card with your name and descriptive information. Click here to see recent treasures!

Bead JBeadsar

Are you looking for a mind boggling collection of beading treasures? Each year we have a drawing for the Bead Jar. To be eligible for the drawing, bring beautiful beads left over from a project or that special bead you bought in a moment of insanity that just isn't your color or style. Drop it in the jar, take a ticket and you may be this year's lucky winner!
