Kate Mckinnon The Shag Carpet of Pearls

The Shag was one of Kate's first designs that was deliberately engineered to defeat many of the problems seen in sewn beadwork. Each pearl is wired on it's own rhodium-plated headpin (inexpensive and tarnish-free) and then incorporated into the simple weave of the square stitch. This results in a piece with lots of movement and wearability. The Shag is also edge bound, and can then be fringed or embellished to taste. Kate will cover several interesting variations of the technique as well, including her beautiful Biker Bracelet.

This class is suitable for all levels, but the more experience you have the more you will be able to learn and do in class. Required kit: $75, includes clasp.
